Teachers are the most important school-based variable to providing high quality education. Without a sufficient supply of teachers in every community and in every field of study, education cannot be equitable or adequate. We need solutions that will improve the status of teaching, retain professionalism, strengthen the teacher
corps, and that allow schools to better meet the needs of students.
